Access to Zakynthos
Zakynthos is located approximately at the bottom of the Ionian Sea, opposite the Peloponnese and a short distance from mainland Greece. The visitor has a variety of options on how to get to the island, depending on where they are coming from.
By plane

By car or boat
By car. Zakynthos can be reached by car via the mainland of Greece. Visitors can drive to the port of Kyllini, in the Peloponnese region of Greece, and take a ferry to Zakynthos. The drive from Athens to Kyllini takes about 3 hours, while the drive from Patras to Kyllini takes about 1 hour. The ferry ride from Kyllini to Zakynthos takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
By boat. Zakynthos can also be reached by boat from several ports in Greece and Italy. The island has its own port, in Zakynthos Town, where ferries from the port of Kyllini arrive. In addition, ferries from the ports of Patras and Astakos also operate during the summer months.
From Italy, ferries run from Bari and Brindisi to the port of Patras, and from there visitors can take a bus or drive to the port of Kyllini to catch a ferry to Zakynthos. The ferry ride from Patras to Kyllini takes about 1 hour.
